Jameis Winston learns who Dan Skipper is during Super Bowl week

USA Today

Browns quarterback Jameis Winston was back in one of his previous stops for a short time as he visited New Orleans for Super Bowl 59 week as a reporter for NFL on Fox. Given his character and how much fun he had throughout the week, we may have seen the birth of a media career for the former No. 1 overall pick.

During Winston’s frolics in the Big Easy, the Lions popped up in some fashion.

First, Winston took questions from some fans while enjoying a plateful of beignets. He joked he wasn’t doing the things he needs to do to be a quarterback before asking what job he should find next year — Winston is set to become a free agent.

One of the young fans joked he should work at McDonald’s. Another fan said NFL quarterback. This is where it gets hilarious. Winston asked which team he should go to. The fan responded: “The Lions, they need the help.”

“The Lions need the help?” Winston asked with a puzzled look. “They went 14-2 this year.” Obviously he meant 15-2 but his point still stands. He then added “I’m trying to play, I respect Jared Goff.” As a reminder, Goff was a finalist of NFL MVP this season. Winston did coyly add “Hey, Dan Campbell, what’s up?”

Later in the video, Winston was walking around New Orleans and spotted a man that he believed was “somebody’s left tackle”. That man happened to be Lions offensive tackle Dan Skipper. Not Nate Solder as Winston hilariously quipped.

Winston asked Skipper where he should play next season. Skipper said, “Whoever wants to pay you the most money so you can get a boat like that.” They were outside downtown New Orleans, near the water and near a big boat.

Winston had himself some fun adventures in New Orleans all week that you can check out, but it was neat to highlight the Lions notes in there.
