The Detroit Lions have filled another vacancy on the offensive coaching staff. It’s a familiar coach for one of the Lions’ stars, too.
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the Lions are hiring current Texas Longhorns RB coach Tashard Choice as their new running backs coach. Choice was Detroit RB Jahmyr Gibbs’ running backs coach at Georgia Tech, where Gibbs played before transferring to Alabama.
The Lions are moving assistant head coach Scottie Montgomery from the RB coach position to make room for Choice. Montgomery is taking over the WR coach vacancy, which opened when Antwaan Randle El left for the Bears.
Choice spent several years as a running back in the NFL after graduating from Georgia Tech. He’s been coaching at the college level since 2016.
