Lions sign 11 players to futures deals, Detroit is smart to keep three guys that could be major players in 2025, part with two Brad Holmes draft picks

I know everyone’s minds are on something different right now, but the Detroit Lions did make a good handful of signings on Monday. They have signed 11 practice squad players to futures contracts. Here’s the full list:

  1. LB Abraham Beaplan
  2. Edge Isaac Ukwu
  3. C Kinsley Eguakun
  4. QB Jake From
  5. LB DaRon Gilbert
  6. S Erick Hallet
  7. T Jamarco Jones
  8. WR Tom Kennedy
  9. DL Chris Smith
  10. S Loren Strickland
  11. CB Stanley Thomas-Oliver

That means a few players from the practice squad will not be coming back to Detroit, at least not this way. That’s Kwon Alexander, Jermar Jefferson, James Mitchell, Donovan Peoples-Jones,

In terms of the players they kept, the big ones are Isaac Ukwu, Kinsley Eguakun, and Loren Strickland. All three players should be expected to play a much bigger role in 2025.

For Ukwu we could see him land a spot on the 53-man roster as someone that can play a part in the edge rusher rotation. He showed some good stuff in the preseason and when he was called up.

Loren Strickland is a hard-hitting safety that spent most of the year on the 53-man roster and I would expect to see him back there in 2025 where he can play a big role on the special teams unit.

Egaukun might have to wait a little bit, but there’s a lot of reason to believe that he could one day replace Frank Ragnow at center whenever Ragnow decides to hang them up.
