The Lions slot in the 2025 NFL Draft is now set

USA Today

With their unfortunate ouster from the postseason, the Detroit Lions now move into offseason mode. Among the many aspects of that includes the 2025 NFL Draft, which takes place in April in Green Bay.

Because of the loss to the Commanders, the Lions now know when their first pick will come. Detroit earned the No. 28 overall pick in the first round. The losing teams from the divisional round of the playoffs fill out spots 25 through 28 in the draft based on regular-season records. At 15-2, the Lions have the best record of any team that will lose this weekend, cementing the 28th pick.

That is subject to trades, of course. Lions GM Brad Holmes has been a very aggressive dealmaker during his prior drafts, including last year when he traded up a few spots to land CB Terrion Arnold in the first round.
