The Detroit Lions are in a big spot right now. There are four games left in the season and they’re trying to repeat as NFC North champions. Winning a division two years in a row is something this franchise has never done before. With things as close as they are, they could use all the help they can get.
Former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Rams did the Lions a huge favor on Thursday night when they beat the 49ers. They didn’t allow the Lions to move further ahead in seeding or anything like that, but what they did do is make the NFC West race mean a whole hell of a lot more. That’s very good for the Lions because of their friends the Seahawks.
We already talked about this last week. The Seahawks are going to be a big part of the Lions quest to repeat as NFC North champions because they face the Packers and the Vikings in Seattle in the next two weeks.
Since the Rams currently own the tiebreak over Seattle, the Seahawks absolutely need to keep winning games because the Rams are getting hot again with three wins out of their last four games. The good news is that the Seahawks are on a bit of a burner too. They’ve won four straight.
We’re going to see if they can make it five straight against the Packers on Sunday night. The good news here is that the Packers haven’t won in Seattle since 2008.
The following week we’ll see if the Seahawks can beat the Vikings at home for the sixth time in a row going back to 2012.
Thank Matthew Stafford for doing the Lions one last favor.
