The Seahawks are going to be a huge factor in the Lions’ chase for the NFC North crown

Back in 2022 the Detroit Lions went on one hell of a run. They went from being a one win team to a team that had a chance to go make the playoffs at the end of the year. Sadly that did not happen when the Seahawks beat the Rams in the final week of the year and eliminated the Lions.

The Lions then became the Seahawks’ favorite team in the world because they needed the Lions to do them a favor and beat the Packers so they could make it in. Now it’s time for the Seahawks to return the favor for the Lions.

As we know, the Lions are already in the playoffs, so they don’t need Seattle’s help there. What they do need help with is winning the NFC North.

The Vikings are right on their tail and the Packers aren’t too far behind. Obviously Minnesota is the big one. The Seahawks play both teams in the next two weeks and if they can win both of those games, they can drastically help the Lions in their pursuit to win the divsion.

You can say “the Lions can just keep winning and that’ll take care of that” and you’d be totally right about that, but at the end of the day it’s really hard to just never lose a regular season game. There’s only been seven teams in NFL history to finish the season with just one loss. Maybe the Lions are the eighth, but in case they aren’t, wouldn’t it be sweet to have a team hit the team behind you with a loss so you can have a little wiggle room?

The good thing here is that the Seahawks aren’t a team that’s just trying to play spoiler. These games absolutely matter for them as well. The NFC West is a tight race right now and with Rams winning last night, they are right on the Seahawks’ tail. Suddenly the 49ers are playing ball too. Plus the Cardinals have been extra scrappy this year. They need these wins.

The best thing here is that both these games are at home for the Seahawks too. Let’s see if the 12th man can show up and and help out their old pals the Lions.
