With college football’s regular season hitting its home stretch, draft season is starting to ramp up. That means mock drafts will ramp up, thus giving us players and picks to talk about. Let’s do a roundup of some recent mock drafts here and see what direction the Lions could go in the first round — fans are hoping that pick eventually ends up being No. 32 in the first round.
Draft Wire – Jalon Walker, Edge, Georgia
Curt Popejoy starts us off by giving the Lions a new edge rusher to pair with Aidan Hutchinson for the foreseeable future. Walker has 41 tackles and 4.5 sacks this season for Georgia and has also has recovered two fumbles.
Ryan Wilson, CBS Sports – Jack Sawyer, Edge, Ohio State
Ryan Wilson of CBS is also going with edge help for the Lions. Saywer led the Buckeyes with 6.5 sacks last season and has added three this season to go along with one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
Chris Trapasso, CBS Sports – Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa State
More pass-catchers for Jared Goff? That’s the direction Chris Trapasso goes in with his mock. Higgins currently leads the Cyclones with 62 catches and seven touchdowns and is second behind Jaylin Noel with 792 receiving yards.
Cory Kinnan, Daft on Draft – Landon Jackson, Edge, Arkansas
Cory Kinnan goes with Arkansas’ sack leader, Landon Jackson. Jackson has 4.5 sacks this season and has 14 sacks for his career. Jackson also has a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and two passes defended to boot.
The Draft Network – Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE, Boston College
Keith Sanchez goes with a player that is already at double-digit sacks this season. Ezeiruaku already has 11 sacks, fourth in the nation. He also posted 7.5 sacks in 2022.
The 33rd Team – Donovan Jackson, IOL, Ohio State
Kyle Crabbs dips into the offensive line pool for the Lions, going with Jackson, who has appeared in every game and started since his second year for the Buckeyes. He has mostly played left guard but has recently played left tackle for Ohio State due to injuries.
