Sometimes responding to Individual tweets can get really exhausting, so I’m just going to put out a blanket statement on the whole thing to answer all the people who ask me this question over and over again. You ready? Here we go…
No, the Lions are not going to trade Jameson Williams at the trade deadline. They’re not going to trade him for an edge rusher, they’re not going to trade him for picks, they’re not going trade him on a boat and they’re going to trade him in a moat.
Despite the drama and potential drama that could follow, the Lions are going to stick with this kid and everything that they have said since the news broke should really have clued everyone into that. Just earlier this week, Lions head coach Dan Campbell said this.
“Look, for me, I judge people over what’s in their heart and I know what this kid’s made of and he’s worth hanging with. So, he’s going to learn from this, he’s going to grow, he’ll be better for all of this.”
He didn’t just say that because ‘what was he supposed to say?” or to set up some sort of smoke screen, The Lions are in the Jameson Williams business. They firmly believe that he knows the score when it comes to what’s going on with him and his career and they’re not wavering.
Now, you can make an argument that the Lions won’t sign him to an extension this coming offseason and that he’ll likely have to work to prove that he can be on the straight and narrow in 2025 in order to get his big pay day, but that’s it. He’s not going anywhere, especially not this year and especially not on Tuesday.
