Browns Pro Bowl defender says trade ‘might be a good look’

The Cleveland Browns have already traded wide receiver Amari Cooper, and there is speculation that more moves might be in their future.

One player who could be moved is edge-rusher Za’Darius Smith, who is still in the first year of a two-year deal he signed with the Browns in the offseason. However, the 32-year-old could be a useful trade chip, and some have linked him to the Detroit Lions as they seek to replace the production of Aidan Hutchinson.

That possibility was put to Smith on Thursday, and he certainly seemed intrigued by it.

“If I was to go to Detroit, I would like it, because I get to play Green Bay twice a year and the Vikings twice a year,” Smith told Scott Petrak of BrownsZone. “So, yeah, that’ll be big.

“I’m staying positive, but now that you say that, it might be a good look, a good feel for me.”

Smith made two Pro Bowls with the Green Bay Packers and another with the Minnesota Vikings — two teams the Lions are competing with in the NFC North. He can definitely be a bit mindful of revenge, so it’s no wonder the idea intrigues him.

Smith has 63 career sacks, though he only has three this year. A change of scenery could be what the 32-year-old needs, as the 1-5 Browns do not appear to be going anywhere.
