Dan Campbell lays out self-scouting plan for Lions coaches over the bye week

The Detroit Lions are now off for a few days. Well, they’re out of the building for the bye week.

That doesn’t mean the Lions are done working, of course. That’s especially true for the coaching staff. Head coach Dan Campbell gave his assistants a self-scouting mission for the time off from practices.

“I told the coaches, I really want us to look at ourselves more than the players if that sounds – because of it’s so early in the season,” Campbell said on Monday. “I think it’s more about, let’s look at ourselves here individually as position coaches, coordinators and myself, head coach, and let’s say, ‘Where are we at? What are we doing well? What are we not doing well? How do we help these guys?’ And I think that’s really got to be the emphasis right now.”

The Lions are 3-1 and rank well in most categories, but there is definitely work to be done. As Campbell also noted,

“We can be much better. We need to be much better.”
