No, the Lions aren’t euthanizing Frank Ragnow despite Dan Campbell’s statement

USA Today

No, the Detroit Lions are not euthanizing center Frank Ragnow. Let’s get that out of the way.

The All-Pro Lions center will not play in Detroit’s Week 4 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks as he deals with a partially torn pectoral muscle. The language used by Lions head coach to note that Ragnow would not play in the Monday Night Football game got a little confusing, however.

“We’re going to put Frank down this week.”

Normally, that’s the verbiage of someone ending a suffering pet’s life and not talking about a football player who won’t play. As is often the case, social media picked up on the unusual Campbell pronouncement.
