Lions sign former fifth-round pick in hopes to help shore up a troubled area of the Lions’ roster

Jones came out of Ohio State where he played alongside Lions’ left tackle Taylor Decker for two seasons. Decker is also a client at the same agency that only represents offensive linemen. He was drafted by the Seahawks in 2018 and played there for three seasons. Jones mostly played off the bench. He played 36 games and started seven of them.

A concern is that he hasn’t played a regular season game since the 2021 season. Jones signed with the Titans and was expected to be a starter there, but he missed the entire 2022 season with an injury. In 2023 he came back healthy but was released during training camp becasue he kept getting into fights with other players. No team picked him up after that.

Jones has the size and athleticism that you’d want in a guard, he’s just had trouble figuring out how to turn that into success on the field. We’ll see what Lions’ offensive line coach Hank Fraley can do with him.
