The Lions suffered a varying degree of injuries during their 14-3 loss Thursday night in their preseason opener against the New York Giants. Head coach Dan Campbell provided updates on those players following the game. Here’s a quick rundown of those injuries.
QB Hendon Hooker
Hooker suffered a concussion during the game. Campbell says he doesn’t know how long Hooker will be out for. “I know he got his bell rung, so that’s what that was,” Campbell said. “Obviously, we would have loved to have gotten more time with him, but that’s one of those things that happens. One of his runs there he must have gotten it.”
DL David Bada
Bada, unfortunately, suffered an Achilles injury during the game. He couldn’t put any weight on his leg. Bada had signed with the Lions in July. He spent last season on injured reserve with an arm injury. He last played in 2022 with the Washington Commanders.
OL Connor Galvin
Galvin suffered a torn MCL Thursday and will have season-ending surgery. Campbell said after the game that Galvin’s knee — and Bada’s Achilles — “can be significant”. Unfortunately, Galvin’s is significant.
WR Antoine Green
Green also suffered a concussion. “I think he and Hooker are kind of in the same boat,” Campbell said. “Not sure how long this will be.”
LB James Houston
Houston is dealing with a bone bruise, but Campbell doesn’t believe it’s a long-term issue for the linebacker. Houston missed 14 games last season with an ankle sprain.
CB Morice Norris
Norris suffered a “little” hamstring injury, as Campbell described Thursday. It doesn’t sound like it is anything major.
DL Nate Lynn
Campbell said Lynn is dealing with a shoulder injury. He didn’t provide any further details.
