The Lions have signed a defensive lineman from the International Pathways Program

Bada came to America as part of the 2020 class of International Pathways players. He had been playing American style football the German Football League in Germany for the Munich Cowboys, Ingolstadt Dukes and the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns. The Commanders signed him and he’s spent the last four seasons with them.

Bada has only played two regular season games and both were in 2022. Terrell Williams, who Dan Campbell spoke highly of on Thursday, is a good guy to get his hands on the German defensive tackle.

Now, since Bada is an IPP player, there is an exemption for him on the roster. That means that the Lions still have a roster spot open today. This does not move them to 90 players. They can still sign one more. This also means that the Lions can use their practice squad exemption spot for IPP players during the season and have 17 guys instead of 16. It’s super low risk move.

We’ll soon see how he works in Detroit. Amon-Ra St. Brown, who is fluent in German, is going to love this guy.
