Last year was a big year for the Detroit Lions. They had five players get All-Pro honors. Amon-Ra St, Brown, Sam Laporta, Penei Sewell, Frank Ragnow and Jalen Reeves-Maybin were all selected for the first times in their career. They all have a chance to make it there again in 2024, but we think they’ll have some company this time. Here’s five Lions players that have a chance to make their first All-Pro team in 2024.
Jared Goff
Right off the bat you have to go with the quarterback. It might be wild to think that this could happen since Jared Goff is always going to carry around the weight of 2020 Jared Goff and that’s largely all that a lot of analysts see, but he’s been one of the top quarterbacks in the league.
If the Lions come out and finish the season with the best record in the NFL while Goff puts up big numbers again, there’s a chance he could carve himself a spot on on one of the All-Pro teams.
Aidan Hutchinson
It’s no secret that Hutchinson is good. He nailed double digit sacks in his first two seasons and led the league in pressures last year. You get the feeling that he’s about to explode at any moment and go off for a crazy amount of sacks. With an improved defensive line around him, he might be able to do that. If he can go off and hit 20 sacks like an NFC scout thought he would last year, he’s headed for the All-Pro team.
Jahmyr Gibbs
Gibbs had a really good rookie season and he spent the first 25% of it being brought along slowly. Remember how upset fantasy football people were in September last year? Now Gibbs is expected to be a full on participant and probably the Lions lead back in 2024. Imagine what he can do with a full season of carries and targets. He might have the very best odds of any guy on this list.
Brian Branch
Branch had a really good rookie year and if he didn’t have that bit of time where he was hurt, he might have had a chance to compete for Defensive Rookie of the Year. This year he’s expected to go back to safety and if you thought he was good as a corner, he’s even better at safety. He could be turning in a monster season that could see him make the All-Pro team.
Kalif Raymond
Raymond has been a very good punt returner for the Lions and that could be where he could get his All-Pro honors. You always feel like he’s about to break one and this could be the year he starts doing that more often. Even without breaking one, Raymond finished fourth in punt return yards last season with 331.
