Tracking the reaction to the Lions signing veteran OG Kevin Zeitler

USA Today

While the news isn’t official just yet, the cat is out of the bag. Veteran right guard Kevin Zeitler is set to join the Detroit Lions as a free agent on Tuesday, assuming he passes the team’s physical.

Zeitler fills the hole left by Jonah Jackson, who signed with the Los Angeles Rams last week. The 34-year-old Zeitler is coming off his first Pro Bowl nod, playing with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023. The 12-year veteran has consistently been one of the best pass-blocking right guards since entering the league as a first-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2012.

The initial reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, and not just from Lions fans. National pundits and analytics enthusiasts also love the move by the Lions to bring in Zeitler. Here’s a sampling of the early reactions to the (still pending) move.
