Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 reports that the San Francisco 49ers are signing former Detroit Lions cornerback Chase Lucas.

NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo adds that the deal with the defensive back and special teamer is for one year, noting, “The Lions’ 2022 seventh-rounder heads to Santa Clara after two seasons in Detroit where he performed particularly well as the team’s gunner on punts.”

The cornerback played 230 snaps on special teams in 2023.

The Detroit Lions selected Lucas (5-11, 184) out of Arizona State in the seventh round (No. 237 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. He registered three tackles in 12 game appearances with the Lions last season, per Pro Football Reference.

Lucas, 27, has recorded six tackles in 18 game appearances over his two NFL seasons.
