Falcons request head coaching interview with Lions OC Ben Johnson

Lions offensive coordinator remains one of the hot head coaching candidates in this year’s spin around the NFL coaching carousel. The Atlanta Falcons are the latest team with a head coach vacancy to spin the wheel in Johnson’s direction.

Per Tom Pelissero, the Falcons have requested permission from the Lions to interview Johnson to be their next head coach. Atlanta is the third team in this offseason, after the Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders.

Atlanta dismissed coach Arthur Smith after the Falcons lost their season finale. Smith was one of the finalists to get the Lions vacancy back in 2021 but Detroit (smartly) opted for Dan Campbell instead.
