C.J. Gardner-Johnson is back at Lions practice

USA Today

There was a very welcome sight at the Detroit Lions practice facility in Allen Park on Wednesday. Defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson was out on the practice field working out with the team.

It means the clock for returning from injured reserve has begun for the energetic Gardner-Johnson. He’s been out since Week 2, when he tore a pectoral muscle. Gardner-Johnson has been working hard to get back on the field before the end of the year.

The Lions now have three weeks to either activate Gardner-Johnson onto the 53-man roster, or lose him to I.R. for the rest of the season. He can be activated at any time and would be eligible to play immediately.
