Detroit Lions’ NFC Championship odds are insane

SideLion Report

The Detroit Lions have the fourth best odds to win the NFC in 2023.

That’s a real and true sentence. What a world!

As Lions fans are well aware of, postseason success (or success in general) has been largely nonexistent for the majority of the franchises existence. In the Super Bowl era, Detroit has one (1) playoff win.

That came in the 1991 postseason when they beat the Cowboys in the Divisional Round. They’d go on to lose to Washington in the NFC Championship Game.

But, there’s officially reason to have hope again. Let’s take a look at the odds to win the NFC in 2023.

Lions NFC Championship odds

That’s right. Behind the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, and Dallas Cowboys, the Detroit Lions sit in sole possession of fourth on the odds list to win the NFC.

Odds to win each division are yet to be released, but unless there are some major offseason changes, that also will likely mean the Lions will be the betting favorites to win the NFC North.

It feels crazy just to type those words.

The Lions had an inspired 2022 season, which resulted in narrowly missing out on the playoffs at 9-8. But, with a young roster and a head coach who seems to have the support of his team, the Lions are poised to take another step forward this upcoming season.

Also, let’s be honest, the NFC is likely to be the weakest its been in some time this year. Outside of the Eagles and 49ers, things are wide open. That leaves a path for Detroit to make a run.

With that being said, the Lions are quite a bit further down the odds list to win the Super Bowl once you include all the AFC teams. Still, +2500 means they have a real chance. Or, at least, a better chance than they have in the past decade.

Odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
