Victimized by long pass against LA Rams, Detroit Lions cut CB Daryl Worley

Detroit Free Press

Two days after allowing a long pass that led to the game-winning touchdown, the Detroit Lions released cornerback Daryl Worley.

Worley played 17 defensive snaps in Sunday’s 28-19 loss to the Los Angeles Rams as an injury fill-in for slot cornerback A.J. Parker.

He got beat on a 59-yard Matthew Stafford pass to Cooper Kupp on the final play of the third quarter, three plays after Parker left with a shoulder injury.

Kupp scored on a 5-yard touchdown pass against Worley early in the fourth quarter to give the Rams a 25-19 lead.

Lions coach Dan Campbell said Monday that Parker “may be down for a little while” with his injury. The Lions (0-7) play the Philadelphia Eagles this week at Ford Field, then have their bye.

Bobby Price is the Lions’ top backup cornerback, and veteran Nickell Robey-Coleman is on the practice squad.

The Lions have been without starting cornerback Jeff Okudah and his backup, Ifeatu Melifonwu, most of the season. They have three players, Taylor Decker, Kevin Strong and Da’Shawn Hand, currently practicing in the hopes of returning from injured reserve.
