Kenny Golladay and D’Andre Swift officially ruled out to face the Texans

Unfortunately for the Lions and Matthew Stafford, the offense will be without playmakers Kenny Golladay and D’Andre Swift on Thursday.

With the Detroit Lions getting ready to take on the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving Day, some unfortunate news has arrived for head coach Matt Patricia. That’s because he’ll be without two offensive studs going up against Houston.

Moments ago, the Lions announced their inactives for Thursday’s clash, with wide receiver Kenny Golladay and rookie running back D’Andre Swift both on the list. Obviously, this is a bummer for quarterback Matthew Stafford, as the two are key offensive standouts.

While the news was expected, there was still some hope the two would be able to suit up for the Week 12 showdown. Alas, that won’t be the case.

Swift has been impressive during his first year in the NFL, rushing for 331 yards and four touchdowns. As for Golladay, when healthy, he’s a true talent catching balls from Stafford, as the two form quite the duo.

On the year, Golladay has been limited to 20 receptions for 338 yards and two scores, numbers far lower than what Detroit fans expected of him entering the season. He’s been battling a hip injury, causing him to miss the last three games. Now, his count will rise to four with the news he won’t be able to suit up to take on Houston.

Things most certainly got a touch more difficult for the Lions on Thanksgiving, but they’ll look for the other speedsters on the roster to step up and make a difference. As for Houston, Deshaun Watson and his weapons on offense will look to light up the scoreboard early against Detroit.
