All UFL teams will be reporting to training camp this week and there is a large amount of guys that used to play for the Detroit Lions who are looking to continue their football careers in the springtime. Here are some of the guys on rosters: 

Michigan Panthers

OL Jake Burton

Burton was with the Lions in 2024 during training camp. He was signed after a successful season with the Michigan Panthers. He was cut in August and is now back with the Panthers. 

Birmingham Stallions

OT Matt Farinok

Farinok was with the Lions in 2023. He spent the entire season on the practice squad. 

CB Steven Gilmore

Gilmore spent the entire 2023 season on the Lions’ 53-man roster and after a really good preseason that year, it seemed like they were stashing him with the hopes that he would be ready to play a lot more in 2024. Ultimately that did not happen after Gilmore struggled in camp and was cut in August.

S Juju Hughes

Hughes was with the Lions in 2022 and played seven games for Detroit that year. He even started one. The Lions waived him in November of that year. 

DL Demetrius Taylor

Taylor was with the Lions in 2022. He spent most of the season on the practice squad but was active for one game. The Lions signed him to futures deal after the season but then released him after the NFL suspended him for the entire 2023 season due to a violation of the league’s gambling policy. 

CB Rachad Wildgoose

Wildgoose was with the Lions in 2024 for six days in August. 

OT Jarron Jones

Jones was with the Lions for a couple of weeks in December of 2018. The team signed him to a futures deal after the season but released him before camp the next year. 

TE Jordan Thomas

The Lions signed Thomas to a futures deal in January but then cut him in March. He never quite played for Detroit, but he was in the building..

Arlington Renegades

S Brady Breeze

Breeze spent two seasons with the Lions in 2021 and 2022. Most of that time was spent on the practice squad. He did play six regular season games though.

QB Luis Perez

Perez was with the Lions for training camp in 2019. He was cut before the season.

DE Will Clarke

Clarke spent the 2020 training camp with the Lions and was cut ahead of the season. 

CB Jamar Summers

Summers spent the 2019 training camp with the Lions and was cut ahead of the season.

Houston Roughnecks

CB Corn Elder

No, this is not a 1920’s boxer from Cinderella Man, he’s a cornerback who spent training with the Lions in 2021. 

CB Colby Richardson

Richardson spent part of the 2023 season with the Lions. 

OL Ryan Pope

Pope was an undrafted rookie for the Lions in 2019. He seemed like a guy that had shot to make the 53-man roster, but he was cut before the start of the season.

DT Olive Sagapolu

Sagapolu was with the Lions in 2019 and 2020. He was on the practice squad in late 2019 and was signed to a futures deal but was cut after training camp in 2020. Then they brought him back and waived him again a few days later.

Memphis Showboats

LB Steele Chambers

Lions fans were hopeful for Chambers to make the roster earlier this year, but the Lions parted ways with the undrafted rookie pretty quickly. 

DT John Atkins

Atkins spent three seasons with the Lions from 2018 to 2020. He played 14 games for them and started six of them.

CB Mark Gilbert

The Lions poached Gilbert off the Steelers practice squad in 2021 and finished out the year on the Lions’ 53-man roster playing eight games. The Lions cut him ahead of the 2022 season. 

WR Jonathan Adams

Adams was an undrafted rookie for the Lions in 2021. He spent camp with the team but was then waived in August and suspended by the NFL for undisclosed reasons.

San Antonio Brahmas

S Jalen Elliot

Elliot spent the 2021 season with the Lions and played eight games that year and started one game. He was cut ahead of the 2022 season.

Te Alize Mack

Mack was signed to a futures deal after the 2020 season and was cut by the Lions after training camp ahead of the 2021 season.

CB Darius Phillips

Phillips spent a few months on the Lions practice squad in 2023. 

LB Tavante Beckett

Beckett played four games for the Lions during the 2021 season and spent the rest of the year on the practice squad. He was signed to a futures deal after the year but was cut ahead of training camp.

WR Juwan Green

Green spent a couple of weeks on the Lions practice squad during the 2021 season.

LB Rashod Berry

Berry played five games for the Lions in 2021. He was cut after the season and then signed back and then cut again.

St. Louis Battlehawks

WR Denzel Mims

The Lions traded for Mims during training camp in 2023. It did not work out and he was cut a couple weeks later and the trade was voided. 

CB Chris Payton-Jones

Payton-Jones was with the Lions during training camp during the 2018 season but was cut and final cut downs. 

DC Defenders

QB Jordan Ta’amu

Ta’amu was with the Lions two different times. He was on the practice squad in 2020 and then came back for a week during training camp in 2021.

OT Jarrid Williams

Williams was on the Lions practice squad for the final couple of weeks of the 2022 season. He wasn’t brought back. 

K Matt McCrane

McCrane was signed to the Lions practice squad for a couple of weeks this season.
