The United Football League kicks off its second season this spring following the merger between the XFL and USFL.
The UFL, for as long as it lasts, should serve as a proving ground for football players who haven’t quite made the cut in the NFL. The Detroit Lions learned just how valuable some spring football players can turn out to be following the success of former Michigan Panthers kicker Jake Bates.
Several former Lions are also participating in the league’s season. Most didn’t play significant roles in the organization, but there may be a few familiar names in action.
