Ohio State is coming off a national championship in 2025 and they have some moves to make to get thier coahcing staff back up to snuff after losing some guys to different jobs.
The defensive coordinator role is one to fill now that Jim Knowles has gone to Penn State. One guy that Ohio State is seriously considering is former Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia.
Patricia spent many years as the Patriots defensive coordinator and did win some Super Bowls, but once he left the nest, he struggled mightily.
His time as the Lions head coach was infamously with some beleiveing that final season in 2020 was darker than the 0-16 team in 2008. Patricia took on a Lions team that was supposed to be just one step away and crumbled it from the inside out. The team was on life support by the time Patricia was fired midway through that year.
Patricia took over the defensive play calling duties for the Eagles in 2023 and it did not go well at all. The Eagles were embarrassed by the Bucs in the playoffs and then Patricia was let go.
This has to be on that Michigan Wolverine fans are going to love. Despite winning the national championship, the Buckeyes have not been able to beat the Wolverines since 2019. Adding someone like Patricia could only make that streak continue.
