Ben Johnson left the Detroit Lions for the Chicago Bears head coaching job and there was concern that he would take a bunch of the Lions coaches with him. So far he’s taken Antwaan Randle El with him and now he’s bringing another guy.

Assistant quarterbacks coach J.T. Barrett will be joining the Bears as their quarterbacks coach per his own Instagram.

Barrett spent a couple of years with the Lions and Ben Johnson recently talked about how he and two other Lions assistants have been helping out a lot on trick plays in the last two seasons.

Johnson also went into detail in that same presser about how he’s had Barrett working other position coaches on staff so that he could learn things like protections for when he eventually got his one quarterback room. Well, he’s got it now.

With Mark Brunell and now Barrett gone, the Lions will look to find a new quarterbacks coach. Two guys make a ton of sense. Commanders assistant quarterbacks coach David Blough and current Lions quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
