Lions rule out Ennis Rakestraw, elevate 2 from the practice squad vs Commanders

USA Today

The Detroit Lions did some last-minute tinkering with the roster ahead of Saturday night’s matchup in the NFC Divisional Round with the Washington Commanders.

The Lions officially ruled out cornerback Ennis Rakestraw. The rookie CB was listed as questionable as he attempts to return from injured reserve. He’s been out for several weeks with a hamstring injury.

Detroit elevated two defensive players from the practice squad for Saturday’s game. Defensive tackle Chris Smith and cornerback Stantley Thomas-Oliver for the game. Both have prior elevations, though that counter is reset for the postseason. Thomas-Oliver figures to plug the injury-related hole on special teams created by Rakestraw’s inability to get back and the recent losses of Emmanuel Moseley and Khalil Dorsey.
