Lions missing two starting OL from Wednesday’s practice

USA Today

As the Lions prepare to face the Washington Commanders on Saturday night, the week’s practice schedule is accelerated. Wednesday becomes the second full day of practice, the typical Thursday session when the team plays on Sunday.

And in that penultimate practice, the Lions were without two starting offensive linemen. Right guard Kevin Zeitler and left tackle Taylor Decker each missed the practice session.

Zeitler worked off to the side with trainers in the portion of practice open to the media. He’s efforting to return after suffering a hamstring injury near the end of Detroit’s Week 18 win over the Minnesota Vikings. He was listed as a non-participant in Tuesday’s walkthrough.

Decker has not been on the team’s injury report, suggesting that this was nothing more than a veteran rest day. Decker has battled through chest and knee injuries during the season, causing him to miss three total games. The veteran has started Detroit’s last four games without incident.

No Kevin Zeitler or Taylor Decker at Lions practice today. Zeitler was working out on the side. Decker’s absence is nothing to worry about.

The full practice participation report comes out later on Wednesday, with the final game designations on Thursday afternoon.
