Lions open as road favorites in San Francisco for Week 17

Sunday’s outcomes in Week 16 of the NFL season proved that the Detroit Lions remain an elite team. Detroit’s 34-17 romp over the Bears in Chicago elevated the Lions to 13-2.

Meanwhile, Detroit’s Week 17 opponent, the San Francisco 49ers, saw any remaining hopes of making the postseason end in a crushing 29-17 defeat in Miami. The Niners are now 6-9 and officially eliminated from the playoffs.

As such, the Lions are the early betting favorites for the Monday night contest in Week 17. At BetMGM, Detroit is a 3.5-point favorite to prevail in San Francisco. The moneyline of Lions -190 is a fairly strong lean to Detroit, too.

The Monday morning lines, over a week ahead of the Week 17 game, via BetMGM:

  • Moneyline: Lions -190 (bet $190 to win $100) | 49ers +155 (bet $100 to win $155)
  • Against the spread: Lions -3.5 (-110) | 49ers +3.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 51.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

San Francisco has lost five of its last six games, with the one victory coming against the Bears, losers of nine in a row.
