Lions open as big favorites over the Bears in Week 16

USA Today

The early line for the Detroit Lions and their Week 16 trip to Chicago to play the Bears was delayed due to Chicago’s Monday night matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. After the Vikings marauded the Bears, 30-12, the sportsbooks installed the Lions as big favorites on the road in Chicago.

At BetMGM, the Lions are 7-point favorites to beat the Bears in Week 16. Even with all the defensive injuries and the loss of former Bears RB David Montgomery, the professionals still see Detroit as the clearly superior team. A straight moneyline bet, which is simply picking which team will win without any odds, shows the Lions at -350, one of the heaviest favorites of the Week 16 slate.

The Lions won the first meeting between the NFC North rivals on Thanksgiving, 23-20. After the game, Chicago fired head coach Matt Eberflus. The Bears have lost eight games in a row dating back to their bye in Week 5.
