Here we are, it’s midnight on a Saturday night ahead of the NFL trade deadline and everyone is wondering what the Detroit Lions are going to do. ESPN’s Adam Schefter and The Athletic’s Diana Russini just dropped back to back late night tweets that may hint at the Lions preferred player to trade for.

This of course is not the first time Smith has been linked to the Lions in some way. Smith himself actually talked about how intrigued he would be if the Lions traded for him just a couple weeks ago.

“Hate that injury happened to him, a guy that was on his way to get Defensive Player of the Year possibly,” Smith said about Aidan Hutchinson. “That’s a big loss for them. But if I was to go to Detroit, I would like it, because I get to play Green Bay twice a year and the Vikings twice a year. So, yeah, that’ll be big.”

The reported asking price for Smith is a high day three pick. The Lions could come in with a fourth-round pick and get the job done.

Smith has been very good for the Browns as of late, but the Browns are struggling. There’s reports out there that AFC teams are planning to see how Sunday’s games go before they make a trade. We’ll see how things go. If the Browns win, they may want to stick. If they lose, Smith could be had.
