Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers DFS Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em | Week 9

Yardbarker

Here are a few of the players we are heavily leaning on in this game. These players are in a good spot to put together a solid performance and in a favorable matchup.

Sam LaPorta ($4.8k DraftKings and $6.3k Fanduel)

Last week, we got a potential preview of Sam LaPorta’s usage without Jameson Williams for the Detroit Lions. Laporta’s route share was 69.6%, his target share was north of 30% and he finished as TE8. Green Bay is in the bottom five in receiving yards to the tight end and in the bottom 12 in fantasy points allowed in the position. Start LaPorta in DFS this week and you could argue he should be our lock.

Jayden Reed ($6.4k DraftKings and $7.3k Fanduel)

Jayden Reed has been down the past two weeks, which is a great time to use a player when the masses are down on him. Reed is still is still PPR WR10 and still commands a 17.1% target share. Reed runs a good amount of his routes from the slot and the Detroit Lions are vulnerable there, allowing the most fantasy points and receiving yards to slot receivers.

Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers DFS Sit ‘Ems

On the flip side of things, here are a few of the players we are sitting in this one.

Tim Patrick ($4.7k DraftKings and $3.5k Fanduel)

There were some thoughts that Tim Patrick’s volume would rise with the absence of Jameson Williams but after one game, we saw it go LaPorta for the Detroit Lions. Patrick saw zero targets and is usable based on what we saw. Another player that could potentially be a sit is Christian Watson, he is very similar to Wicks with his wide range of outcomes. Watson averages just 6.3 fantasy points per game and 13 catches across seven games.

Josh Jacobs ($6.9k DraftKings and $7.4k Fanduel)

Jacobs lines up versus the Detroit Lions who ranked second in fantasy points allowed to running backs and fifth versus the rush. On the road, the Lions are allowing only just 89.7 rushing yards per game. Jordan Love remains questionable for Week 9 and was a DNP at Wednesday’s practice. With the potential that Malik Willis will be under center, it’s a downgrade to Green Bay skill position players in DFS this week.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

Jared Goff ($6.5k DraftKings and $8k Fanduel)

We chose Jared Goff for our lock because of his consistency rate this season. Goff is the overall QB11 and has produced QB1 numbers in three of his last four games. Detroit is also a pass funnel defense due to their fifth-ranked rush defense. The Lion’s pass defense is bottom half in yards per attempt, passing touchdowns allowed, and success per dropback. We need a safer floor for a DFS lock and we feel Goff provides that.

Total Apex Fade of the Game

Dontayvion Wicks ($5.2k DraftKings and $5.3k Fanduel)

We love the Wicks talent the problem is the consistency. Wicks rates among the best Packer wideouts in touchdowns and yards per target, but the range of outcomes is wide. Wicks is in his last seven games has three games where he averaged 14.9 fantasy points per game and four at 1.62. He does get a Detroit Lions defense ranked 30th in points allowed to wide receivers, but we fading him due to the volatility he presents.

Conclusion

Firstly, if Jordan Love is out that is a downgrade to the entire Packer’s passing offense and a slight upgrade for Josh Jacobs, even versus a stout Detroit Lions rush defense. This game features the third-highest implied game total at 48.5 and both teams implied totals sit in the twenties.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, David Montgomery, and Jahmyr Gibbs go without saying as starts and if Jordan Love is active this game becomes a potential shootout. Regardless, there are plenty of DFS options and you will want exposure to this game in your lineup builds between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions.
