The Detroit Lions are riding high after a blowout victory over the Tennessee Titans, and sitting atop the NFC North as the NFL trade deadline looms.
However, after losing Aidan Hutchinson for the season after the star pass-rusher fractured his tibia two weeks ago against the Dallas Cowboys, the Lions have a major need at pass rusher as the stretch run and ultimately the NFL playoffs loom.
The Lions will likely go shopping for a replacement for Hutchinson ahead of the November 5 trade deadline, a notion that head coach Dan Campbell didn’t dismiss Monday.
“Yeah, could be,” Campbell told reporters, when asked if any trades could be imminent.
So, it is entirely possible that general manager Brad Holmes is working the phones for pass rush help, that could put coordinator Aaron Glenn’s defense over the top, one day after recording four takeaways in Sunday’s victory over Tennessee.
The biggest hurdle, though, for the Lions might be the limited market for pass rushers after Haason Reddick’s return to the New York jets and several injuries across the league at the position in recent weeks.
