Fantasy fallers: Big names, no gains in Week 8

We’re giving these three players one more week (on the bench) to get their fantasy acts together. Otherwise, they’re waiver fodder.

Zack Moss (RB) Cincinnati Bengals

With only 231 yards and two touchdowns, Moss can no longer be considered Cincinnati’s No. 1 running back. While he may have a slight lead in carries (69) over Chase Brown (66), Brown leads the team with 327 yards and three scores.

He’s averaging five yards per carry, a number Moss hasn’t seen since 2022 as a member of the Bills. Moss ran for 13 yards on six carries against the Giants in Week 6 but didn’t have a carry or target after fumbling the ball on the team’s first drive of the third quarter.

Brown also had a fumble in the game, but while he saw 15 carries against the Browns in Week 7, Moss rushed for a season-low seven yards on six carries. Moss has seen 16 fewer carries (36) than Brown (52) over the past four games.

Moss set career-best marks with 183 carries, 794 yards and five touchdowns with the Colts last season but, at this point, should be viewed as a handcuff to Brown at best.

Sam LaPorta (TE) Detroit Lions

LaPorta had one catch for 25 yards against the Vikings on Sunday, his second-straight game with a single reception. After leading all tight ends with 10 touchdowns and 239.3 fantasy points as a rookie in 2023, LaPorta has a single touchdown in seven games with 42.4 fantasy points, ranking him 21st among tight ends.

With just three targets in his last two games, LaPorta isn’t giving fantasy managers much to work with, and things won’t get any easier against the Titans this week. Despite their 1-5 record, Tennessee’s defense remains strong, allowing a league-low 272.2 yards per game.

Only the Eagles allow fewer fantasy points per game (5.55) to tight ends than the Titans (5.95), which means LaPorta could be in for a long day, even with teammate Jameson Williams suspended for the game.

Devin Singletary (RB) New York Giants

Singletary has just 239 yards and two scores in five games as a Giant and had a season-low five carries for 18 yards and 4.8 fantasy points last week. Rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. had six carries but saw three targets after earning 22.7 fantasy points on 107 total yards against the Bengals the week before.

With Pittsburgh and Washington up next, the Giants could soon have a 2-7 record with eyes toward the 2025 NFL Draft. Singletary’s contract carries very little dead money into next season which could mean more carries for Tracy Jr.
