The pain is over. The Detroit Lions have finally buried their demons and beat the Seattle Seahawks in a very fun 42-29 win at Ford Field. Here’s our 10 biggest takeaways.
Goff Report
Jared Goff is the story of the game here. He is the first quarterback in NFL history to end game with a 100% completion percentage. It’s never been done. The closest that any quarterback has ever come was Drew Brees with a 96.7% game in 2019.
There’s some dispute over whether or not there were other guys to do it, but Pro Football Reference is recognizing no player going back to 1933.
Goff finished the night going 18-18 for 292 yards, two touchdowns passes and a touchdown catch. What a night.
Never stop running
The Lions once again came out and established the run early. They ended the first half with 88 yards and three touchdowns between David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs.
The Lions did start to slow down in the second half, but they finished the night with 116 yards and the three touchdowns. Good stuff
Aaron Glenn and the Defense
The defense didn’t beat the hell out of the Seahawks, but they got it done when they needed to. They got a goal line stand in the fourth quarter and then picked off Geno Smith on the next drive. That’s good enough to finally say that Aaron Glenn has figured out how to stop this team.
