Dan Campbell explains why Ennis Rakestraw surprisingly didn’t play on Sunday

It’s only been two weeks, but the Detroit Lions have been leading the league in surprise inactives. In Week 1 it was James Houston, in Week 2 it was second-round pick Ennis Rakestraw. Now we know why.

It wasn’t because he was a healthy scratch and it wasn’t a punishment thing, it’s because Rakestraw got hurt during warmups according to Dan Campbell.

“It happened in pregame. It was just a little hamstring, I don’t know. That happened literally 4 minutes before we had to turn in the inactives, so we were up against the clock.”

So there it is. A hamstring injury and the Lions were up against it, so they just made the quick call to not push it with the injury and let Rakestraw sit this one out.

Good to know it wasn’t anything super serious. We’ll monitor it and get you updates as the week goes on.
