Here we go. The Detroit Lions are all set for the 2024 season. We’ve seen their initial 53-man roster already and now we know who’s going to be on their 16-man practice squad. Here’s the group.
- WR Tim Patrick: Probably safe to say that Patrick won’t be on the Lions practice squad for too long. He should be headed up to 53-man roster before you know it.
- Edge Mitchell Agude: Really came on strong this year and you get the sense that he could have made the 53-man roster in a different year. Should be interesting to see how he adapts to the SAM linebacker spot this year
- C Kingsley Eguakun: Here’s your center of the future. Someday Frank Ragnow will be retired and this is the guy that could potentially be taking his place. No brainer here.
- WR Donovan Peoples-Jones: Not too much of a surprise to see DPJ being brought back to the Lions. While he didn’t earn the spot on the 53-,am roster, the Lions did see stuff that they liked from him. Here’s one more chance to earn it.
- QB Jake Fromm: The guy came in for two drives in the final preseason game of the year and lit it up. He did enough there, and in the couple weeks that he was in Detroit, to earn a spot. This is a cool story.
- WR Allen Robinson: It seemed like this one would happen some day. It only took 10 years.
- RB Jermar Jefferson: The Lions really loved this guy and they talked about it out loud a lot this summer. It’s a surprise he wasn’t claimed.
- WR Tom Kennedy: Like I’ve been saying all summer, it is required by law that Tom Kennedy be on the Lions practice squad.
- TE James Mitchell: Mitchell hive stand up! It’s good that the Lions brought him back. I personally still believe there is something there.
- S C.J. Moore: The special teams ace didn’t make the 53-man roster, but he did stick around.
- DT Kyle Peko: I would imagine that this guy is going to be elevated Week 1.
- TE Shane Zylstra: Wrote that he could have a breakout this year and then the Lions cut him. We’re back on! Sort of.
- T Jamarco Jones: Here’s another guy that could be elevated Week 1.
- Edge Pat O’Connor: Another special teams ace with a lot of NFL experience. He’s someone the Lions could lean on late in the season when attrition hits.
- Edge Isaac Ukwu: This guy will be on the Lions 53-man roster in 2025. I’m calling it now.
- DL Chris Smith: The defensive version of Tom Kennedy. Ultra reliable guy that just does what’s asked of him.
