The Lions have a very concerning offensive line problem that needs to be fixed

We’ve talked a lot on here about the Detroit Lions having a problem with receiver depth and that’ still a thing, but now there’s another big thing to be concerned about and that’s the Lions’ offensive line.

Obviously we know that the Lions have the best offensive line in football. There is no question about it. Where the problems come in is after those starters. There is next to no security if anyone were to get hurt. Take a look at this laundry list of problems.

So here we are. The Lions don’t have a swing tackle off the bench, they don’t have any backup guards picked out that they didn’t already struggle with last year and the future guys are all either hurt or just not working out.

The offensive linemen that performed well on Thursday night were center Duke Clemmens and Connor Galvin. As we know, Galvin is done for the year. Clemmens, an undrafted rookie out of UCLA, is someone to keep an eye through the rest of camp, but the Lions really need to think about going shopping. Especially at the tackle spot.

There are some interesting names on the market right now. Former All-Pro David Bakhtiari is still looking for a team to play for this year after being released by the Packers earlier in the offseason. He can bring a real value off the bench. D.J. Humphries is another vet that’s still looking for a place to play.

The Lions need to shore this problem up. Especially when you consider all the injuries this very good offensive line has dealt with in the last couple years.
