Lions cornerback Emmanuel Moseley is out indefinitely with a torn pectoral

Whether you love or hate a player, you never want to see them get hurt. For Detroit Lions cornerback Emmanuel Moseley, it’s been three consecutive seasons where he’s suffered serious injuries. These injuries have all prevented him from playing the game of football.

In 2022, he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during week 5 and he missed the remainder of the season. In the off-season, Moseley signed a one year contract with the Lions. After getting activated from the PUP list in week 5 of the 2023 season, Moseley tore the ACL in his right knee.

After resigning with the Lions this off-season, there was hope that Moseley would finally get a chance to show Detroit what he could do for their defense. Despite having a strong start to training camp, it appears that Moseley has suffered another long term injury.

It’s been reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN that Moseley tore his pectoral muscle and will be out indefinitely. Last season, the Lions saw veteran safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson tear his pectoral muscle in week 2 against the Seahawks. Fortunately, Gardner-Johnson returned to practice in December and he played in the season finale and the Lions three playoff games.

According to Dannie Rogers of the Lions, she confirmed that Dan Campbell has also discussed the injury about Moseley. He’s stated that, “Eman has two options. Rally one more time after rehabbing ACL’s in back-to-back seasons or say enough is enough.” Campbell thinks he’ll choose the first option.

The hope for Moseley is that he will return later this year. Since being undrafted in 2018 by the 49ers, he’s gone on to play 33 games in his career. He’s recorded 162 total tackles with 33 pass deflections and four interceptions. While it’s been a string of bad luck with injuries, we can only hope that Moseley gets a chance to prove himself in Detroit later this season.
