Hard Knocks shows that the Giants were targeting two players that the Lions wound up drafting

This Hard Knocks Offseason show that follows the New York Giants through the offseason has been a super fun watch. You get to be in the room with general manager Joe Schoen and watch how teams get things done during the offseason.

On Tuesday night we saw the finale of this version of the show and it followed the Giants through the draft. During the episode their big board got put up on the screen and you can see every player they were targeting based off a color coded system. Looks like they had some interest in two Lions players.

We’re not going to speculate too much on what the color coding means. It’s clear that those are their targets, but in terms of what the colors means, we don’t know. What we do know is that two Lions are marked in the color code system. Ennis Rakestraw and Mekhi Wingo

Looks like the Giants were hoping that Rakestraw would fall to the top of the third and they would take him. That didn’t happen and they wound up taking Kentucky cornerback Andru Phillips instead.

As for Wingo, the Giants may have had some interest, but they wound up not going after him earlier in the draft when he was expected to be taken. Remember, Wingo was a steal for the Lions, in theory, because he was expected to go as high as the third-round by some.

You have to wonder who shows up on this version of Hard Knocks next season and could it be Brad Holmes and the Lions?
