The Detroit Lions boast one of the league’s most young and talented rosters, and as the 2024 NFL season nears, aren’t shying away from lofty expectations.
On the heels of a 2023 blitzkrieg to the NFC Championship Game, the Lions believe they have the pieces in place to go at least one step further in 2024.
Lions star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown needed just eight words to sum up he and his teammates’ mission statement for the upcoming season.
“We all want to win the Super Bowl,” St. Brown told reporters following the first training camp practice of the summer.
St. Brown is one of the biggest reasons for optimism surrounding the Lions, especially on an offense led by resurgent quarterback Jared Goff, versatile, elusive and explosive running back Jahmyr Gibbs, and speedster Jameson Williams opposite St. Brown in Goff’s receiving corps.
But, building on the momentum built in 2023 and carrying it into 2024 could be a challenge the Lions will need to overcome in a competitive NFC North division that also features Jordan Love’s Green Bay Packers and a Chicago Bears franchise with more optimism than it has seen in decades thanks to Caleb Williams’ arrival.
Detroit Lions All-In on 2024
The Lions have adopted the personality of hyper-competitive head coach Dan Campbell with one of the most gifted rosters in the NFL.
St. Brown believes Detroit is capable of taking the next step in 2024.
“We know we can win the Super Bowl,” St. Brown told reporters Wednesday. “We have the team; we have the coaches. We have everything we need in this building to win a Super Bowl and that’s our goal. That’s our focus and everything we do from here on out moving forward is to get that Super Bowl.”
The Lions have never won a Super Bowl, but believe they can change that fact — and the longstanding narrative surrounding the franchise this fall.
