Could Lions quarterback Jared Goff be in the mix to win the MVP award in 2024? Very much so and he may be worth taking a look at in terms of laying some money down given his current value on the board in the eyes of one Yahoo Sports analyst.
Frank Schwab of Yahoo says Goff has some of the best MVP value, in terms of odds, he’s seen in some time and may even make the pick altogether.
“As the offseason has gone on, I’ve really locked in on one guy and I may just pick him straight up to win MVP,” said Schwab on the Inside Coverage podcast. “And that’s Jared Goff.”

Goff is currently +2500 to win the award over at BetMGM. That is tied for 13th in the league with Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and behind Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Schwab says Goff could pull off something similar to Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan back in 2016. Schwab noted that 12 of the last 15 MVPs have been quarterbacks on a team that earned a No. 1 seed and two have been such players on a No. 2 seed. The lone outlier was Vikings running back Adrian Peterson in his outstanding 2012 season.
Ryan and the 2016 Falcons were the No. 1 seed before losing to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. Goff can very well lead the Lions to the No. 1 seed this season in the NFC and that would put him in even better position to win the MVP award.
The value is there and with a strong season, Goff may very well be in the mix to claim the award and maybe win a few bucks for some bettors.
