NFL futures: Two teams to bet on struggling in their division

Yardbarker

Divisions in the NFL often do offer parity, and sometimes you can throw out traditional numbers when two rivals go at it. While it should never be a surprise if a division basement-dweller steals a game throughout the season, there are two teams in particular that face some uphill climbs to be competitive in 2024.

We’re fading them accordingly in the “Division Wins” market available on DraftKings.

New England Patriots under 1.5 division wins (+110 DraftKings)

We are extremely down on the New England Patriots heading into 2024. This roster needs serious work and is a few seasons away from competing again in the AFC, and in particular, the AFC East.

Drake Maye feels like a project and may not even play much this year. Jacoby Brissett is a cromulent option, but he doesn’t inspire much excitement, and without much of a supporting cast, it’s unrealistic to expect a big season from the journeyman QB.

The foundation of this bet, however, is simply built on the projected strength of this division. Josh Allen and Buffalo aren’t going away even if they did lose some pieces, Allen is just that good, and the Bills should continue making the playoffs this season and beyond.

Miami had one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses last season and should see more of the same in 2024, and the Jets will surely be better than their 7-10 record with Aaron Rodgers presumably healthy.

That’s some tough sledding for the Patriots, and at plus-money, we’re willing to wager they struggle finding much in the way of wins inside their own division.
