Following a slightly disappointing start to Jameson Williams’ NFL career after being drafted by the Detroit Lions with the No. 12 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, head coach Dan Campbell hints at Williams’ breakout season this year.
Dan Campbell has positive praise of Jameson Williams following strong offseason
Since being drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft class, Williams has combined for just 10 starts. In those 10 starts, Williams has accrued 51 targets, 25 receptions, 395 yards, and three touchdowns.
Considering when he was drafted and the fact that the Lions traded up for him, his production thus far has been lackluster.
Jameson Williams’ game is heavily favored on the fact that his speed makes him an incredible vertical threat, and with quarterback Jared Goff’s contract extension this offseason, the duo looks to gain much-needed chemistry before the beginning of this season.
And while Dan Campbell has been critical of Williams in the past, this year, Campbell appears optimistic about the 23-year-old receiver.
This offseason, however, seems to be a positive one for the up-and-coming receiver. The Detroit Lions are fresh off winning the NFC North while being a field goal short of advancing to Super Bowl LVIII.
After a clip on X surfaced of Williams hauling in a beautiful sideline catch, Dan Campbell had strong words to say about what he sees from him this offseason.
