The NFL season is over and mock draft season is in full effect now.
PFF and Pro Football Network have been pushing them all out all season long, now it is time for NFL media to step up to the plate. The latest piece they have for draft fans to digest is a four-round mock draft written by Chad Reuter.
In the mock, the NFC North makes some fun picks for the Bears, the Pacers make what feels like a dozen picks, and the Lions and Vikings round out rosters with a look at winning now and in the future. We have four rounds to digest, no more wasting time.
Chicago Bears
Selections:
- Caleb Williams, Quarterback, USC
- Dallas Turner, Edge, Alabama
- Roman Wilson, Wide Receiver, Michigan
- Christian Haynes, Offensive Line, Connecticut
The Chicago Bears have cleared themselves of Justin Fields so it is full-steam ahead on Caleb Williams. They get him some offensive line help to pair with Darnell Wright from last year and a perfect slot option to work with Keenan Allen and DJ Moore. Not to be slighted, Dallas Turner gets paired with Montez Sweat to form a scary pass-rush duo that the entire NFC North needs to take notice of.
Green Bay Packers
Selection:
- Troy Fautanu, Offensive Tackle, Washington
- Jaden Hicks, Safety, Washington State
- Michael Hall Jr., Defensive Line, Ohio State
- Cedric Gray, Linebacker, North Carolina
- Tanor Bartolini, Center, Wisconsin
- Myles Cole, Edge, Texas Tech
- Andru Phillips, Cornerback, Kentucky
The Green Bay Packers control the first four rounds of the NFL Draft in 2024. To kick things off, they get a very fun and aggressive replacement for David Bahktiari in the form of Fautanu. He could make for some fun battles with the dynamic pass rushers in the NFC North. The rest of this draft doesn’t excite me but it is full of good football players. They address the needs of defense while providing valuable dept at linebacker and cornerback.
Minnesota Vikings
Selections:
- J.J. McCarthy, Quarterback, Michigan
- Brandon Dorlus, Defensive Line, Oregon
- Christian Mahogany, Offensive Lineman, Boston College
According to Michigan legend Jim Harbaugh, the Vikings make their move for the best quarterback in this class. He projects to be a better pro quarterback than college and landing in Minnesota could make that possible. McCarthy and his accurate arm in Kevin O’Connel’s system with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison should scare the NFC North and the entire NFL.
Detroit Lions
Selection:
- Darius Robinson, Edge, Missouri
- Kamren Kinchens, Safety, Miami (FL)
- Jarrion Jones, Cornerback, Florida State
Two new names with a familiar one for Lions fans in this mock draft. Robinson has been mocked here countless times and we like the fit of him opposite Aidan Hutchison. However, Kamren Kinchens and Jarrion Jones are both savvy defensive backs who play like the rent was due two months ago. They play in a fashion that Carlton Davis III and Ifeatu Melifonwu don’t but they also have the perfect blend of run support while having the ball skills for pass coverage.
