Davis was someone we had on our top five corners the Lions could trade for board last week and he fits what this team needs. A guy that can come in and be a solid cornerback two for the Lions.
The former second round pick has spent his entire career with the Buccaneers and and has started 75 of the 76 games he played for them. Davis is in the last year of his contract, so the Lions will be taking on his $14 million cap hit this season.
The Lions may have given up a bit too much in my opinion. It feels like they could have traded a fourth for him, but they instead gave up one of their thirds. They do get a sixth round along with Davis, so that’s nice. They just gave up too much for a corner they’re going to have to pay too much in my opinion.
Update: The Lions will also get a 2025 fifth-round pick as part of this deal.
