The NFL season is over, mock draft season is in full effect now.
PFF and Pro Football Network have been pushing them all out all season long, now it is time for NFL media to step up to the plate. The latest piece they have for draft fans to digest is a three-round mock draft written by Chad Reuter.
In the mock, the NFC North makes 15 picks led by the Packers six. They made a trade back with the Chiefs in round one to acquire more picks while the Vikings traded up and have just two picks. As for the Lions, they make four picks all of which would be home runs.
Chicago Bears
Bears Picks
- Caleb Williams, QB, USC
- Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State
- Theo Johnson, TE, Penn State
Impact on Lions
We have discussed the impact Caleb Williams before but the addition of Marvin Harrison Jr. is a whole new issue to address. The son of a Hall of Fame wide receiver, Harrison Jr. plays very similar to his father in every way that is a nightmare for a defense. He alongside D.J. Moore would be a more lethal offensive duo than what Miami has in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
Minnesota Vikings
Vikings Picks
- Dallas Turner, Edge, Alabama
- Bo Nix, QB, Oregon
Impact on Lions
Bo Nix has his lovers and haters but no one can deny his consistency. He is a good passer with a similar game to that of Jared Goff. He with Justin Jefferson could prove to be an interesting combo. The most impactful of the two picks though would be Dallas Turner. The Vikings are set to lose Danielle Hunter but Turner would be a viable and impactful replacement.
Green Bay Packers
Packers Picks
- Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa
- Jordan Morgan, OL, Arizona
- Braelon Allen, HB, Wisconsin
- Chris Braswell, Edge, Alabama
- DJ James, CB, Auburn
- Gabe Hall, DL, Baylor
Impact on Lions
There is a lot to unpack here but one thing is for certain, this team is not far away from dominating this division again. A draft like this where they get a bonafide top corner in DeJean to go along with Braswell and Hall to attack up front is concerning for the Lions. More so, the addition of Allen and Jordan Morgan shows this offense isn’t changing and why would they, if it is’t broke then why fix it?
Detroit Lions
Draft Picks
- Darius Robinson, Edge, Missouri
- Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia
- Jarvis Brownlee Jr., CB, Louisville
- Christian Haynes, iOL, Connecticut
Impact on Lions
Darius Robinson opposite Aidan Hutchison gives the Lions an excellent 1-2 punch rushing the passer. Ladd McConkey has the route running skills of Amon-Ra St. Brown except he works well outside while St. Brown stays inside at the slot. Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and Christian Haynes provide a youthful infusion in two core areas of need for the Lions this offseason. A near-perfect mock draft for the Lions.
