NFC Championship matchup set: 49ers Vs. Lions

After watching 16 NFC battle it out this season, only two remain.

The stage for this year’s NFC Championship game is officially set: the top-seed San Francisco 49ers will host the third-seed Detroit Lions.

This will be the first time these two teams have faced off this season. For much of the season, the 49ers and Lions were viewed by many as the best two teams in the NFC.

This game gives a pretty unique QB matchup with 49ers Brock Purdy vs. Lions Jared Goff. While the beginning of their careers couldn’t be more different, with Goff being selected first overall and Purdy being the final pick, their current outlook seems fairly similar. Both QBs, for the most part, aren’t seen as elite NFL QBs, but both have their fair share of believers due to the flashes both have shown throughout their careers. Some would say they both fall in the category of QBs you”can win with,” but not QBs you
“win because of.”

Both teams will have the opportunity to prove their doubters wrong and vindicate their supporters in the NFC Championship, which will be played in San Francisco on Sunday, January 28th, at 6:30 EST on FOX. The winner will punch their ticket to this year’s Super Bowl to take on the winner of the AFC Championship between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs.
