Tracking the 2023 seasons of the 16 receivers taken before Amon-Ra St. Brown

Yardbarker

Detroit Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown went on NFL Network back in July and talked about how he keeps a list of the 16 receivers drafted before him in his locker and that he looks at it before every practice and every game.

After that we put together a story tracking what those receivers had done up to that point in comparison to St. Brown. In that story  we said that we would come back after the 2023 season and do another one to see if St. Brown had moved out ahead of those guys. So here’s what all 16 receivers did this season compared to St. Brown:

It still amazes me that the Detroit Lions were able to get such incredible value in the fourth round. The Lions really needed a receiver in this draft and it felt crazy that by day three, they hadn’t take one yet. Who could have known that the guy they took in the fourth round would be one of the very best receivers in the NFL three years later? What a career this guy has had.

Speaking of career, Let me also update the career numbers for these guys. Maybe we’ll do this again after the 2024 season.
