Stock report following the Lions Week 14 Loss to the Bears

USA Today

This is about as bad as the Lions have looked this season and could very easily be winless against the Bears this year. They had to have a comeback victory a few weeks ago when they hosted them but the success the Bears had was duplicated and this time they finished the job. With the score being 29-13, this game couldn’t have been further apart if you watched it.

The offense looked lost with play-caller Ben Johnson seemingly looked lost. The defense looked like they were playing on a playground having each member do their own thing. All of it wrapped up creating one of the worst games of the year and could be a sign of things to come.

It wound up being a bear market in Chicago for Detroit on the stock report.

Stock up: Jahmyr Gibbs

The one bright spot in Sunday’s dumpster fire of a game was rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs. He had 14 touches in the game for 82 total yards and one touchdown. He showed great speed, vision, and patience running through his running lanes.

Stock down: Jared Goff

Jared Goff has not played well going back to the middle of November, and now it is causing more questions to be asked. The main question is, can this team win with Goff under center? Asking that back in October would have seemed insane, but as their season starts to crack at the foundation, it makes sense.

Stock down: Amon-Ra St. Brown

In the chaos that was Jared Goff’s game today, lead receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown also had disappeared from the game. With just three receptions for 21 yards in the game, he proved to be a non-factor in the game. It was a rare vanishing act for the normally productive receiver but it was just another scar from a day full of them.

Stock down: Aiden Hutchison

The defensive line has been getting away with high pressures and sack numbers in the past but today with Justin Fields it caught up to them. On one play specifically in the second half, Fields was able to roll out on an extended play after Hutchison went inside instead of being outside thus resulting in a touchdown for Chicago. Those mental errors are adding up when this late in the season they should have run their course.

Stock down: Ben Johnson

For the first time all year, Ben Johnson looked out of his realm. The Lions have one of the best coordinators in football in Johnson and his ability to call and create plays can’t be overstated. That being said, today was a complete disaster with Jared Goff being the conductor of it all on the field. They have to bounce back, and the offense as a whole has to, or else this great season falls flat the likes the NF: hasn’t seen since Tom Brady controlled a ball’s air pressure.
